Alkis S. Rappas 2013

Local Houston maker Alkis R. Rappas is a star of a luthier in the south. His workmanship and focus on tonality is what gave this 2013 viola its 2nd place award in tonal production at the Southern Violin makers conference. In a hefty 16 1/4" size, this viola sports a dark reddish-brown varnish and interesting flame. The sound is dark and very "Viola sounding" in its projection, carrying to the last row of seats in the hall. This viola comes paired with a set of Thomastik Peter Infelds for the viola, which give it a focused and big sound.
